Establishment breeding atrophy

Its saddening when you analyse the downfall of the thrash metal scene. It seems that time has gradually lended its hand into the demise of a once gritty, integral and pure direction of sound.

I am of course talking about a trend i noticed concerning the bands which formed the genre of 'thrash' out of the bay area USA. Anthrax, Testament, Slayer, Megadeth, Suicidal Tendencies, Exodus, Death Angel and Forbidden combine to form the major players of the northern California scene.

For example, 'Killing is my business and business is good' followed by 'Peace sells but whose buying' were two of Megadeth's most famous and punishing albums, 5 years later the band had started to confuse itself with a more commercial sound and steered away from its original roots.

Generally, the first two, maybe three albums were when most thrash metal bands were at their peak. This motion can be applied to most music genres, although, i couldnt care for less for alot of them.

This notion can be viewed within the careers of the above bands, however, i believe Slayer have revived themselves and turned back to the gloriousness of 'reign in blood' days with the latest couple of albums, Christ Illusion etc.

Anyway, the above videos may not be apart of the bay area, but administer the certain aspects of thrash and kill it.

Annihilator: Alice in Hell, dug this album up lately and its so badass, the vocals make this song, too bad Jeff Waters is a douche nowadays.
