Kate McGarrigle

Not too much happening today. I have been reading a lot in preparation for a number of homosexual assignments due in a month or so. To accompany my reading, I usually pick out a band which I haven't listened to in a while. Every so often I become pleasantly surprised, as was the case today.

"see yourself, your image in the eyes of someone else
see yourself, your fears as they appear to someone else"

Hailing from the dreary wake of London, The Horror's have encapsulated the melancholy of bands such as The Cure & The Smith's and converted the hairy, scary 'image' into two awesome, yet totally contrasting albums.

Definite similarity right..

"Though youth may fade with boyhood´s cares
New fear will catch us unawares
I know it will"

Strange House (2007) was a gritty debut which reverberated garage punk back and forth, scratching at your ears. Primary Colours (2009), is layered with glossy psychadelia & eerie backings as well as a clear display of the lyrical talent of the group as evident in some of my favourites, such as Sea Within a Sea and Scarlet Fields.

"The voice of pricking dread is whispering insistent in my ear
My paranoia galvanised by your gaze, so austere"

Anyway, this is completely irrelevant if you don't share the same reverence as I towards music which gets me 'in a tizz'.

Please rain stay away from my precious precious weekend. Ill pray!?
